Almost Free Meals: Super Deal on Bird’s Eye Voila Meals

Voila coupons and product
Voila coupons and product

Earlier this week, my friend Clarissa let me know about a super deal going on at Publix, but it ended on Tuesday night.  (There was only 1 left, but I was able to get a raincheck, though they still haven’t restocked! :()

Well, it seems that Bloom at Food Lion are running similar deals this week:

Food Lion

  • Bird’s Eye Voila! Buy 1 Get 1 Free (B1G1 or BOGO) at $4.99 = $2.50 each,with MVP card, limit 4 total (ad here)
  • Prices good 10/01/08 through 10/07/08

Bloom

  • Bird’s Eye Voila! Buy 1 Get 1 Free (B1G1 or BOGO) at $4.99 = $2.50 each, must use Bloom Breeze card, limit of 4 total (ad here, pg 12)
  • 2 day special: October 4 and 5 only

Coupons

Ah, this is what makes it a super deal! Even though it is BOGO, you can use 1 coupon per item, making it 50 cents per package if you have the $2.00 off coupons.

  • $2.00 off coupons: Check the frozen foods section (where Voila product is) at Bi-Lo for blinkie coupon machines; this is where Clarissa and I got ours.
  • $1.25 off coupons: Check the frozen food section at (where Voila product is) at Publix for blinkie coupon machines.
  • Other stores may also carry these coupons–just check!

The product contains meats, veggies, and pasta and comes in multiple varieties.  Serving size is 3, and it can be combined with bread or more side items to make it stretch even further. (That’s less than 25 cents a meal per person!)  As a frozen item, the product has less preservatives that most processed food.

Update: Get at least 3 Voila meals, and you are eligible for a free Charlie Brown DVD.  See here for form.

For Bloom locations, check here.  For Food Lion locations, check here.
Special thanks to Clarissa for notifying me of this deal and how to get coupons and to Kasey for mentioning that this special was also at Bloom.

So, if the coupons are at Bi-Lo and Publix, but the sales are at other stores…can I use those coupons at the other stores? I think I’ve tried that before, and it rejected it (even though the coupon doesn’t specify a store). Any info. on this?
I actually bought a couple of those (w/out coupons) at Publix while they were on sale. We’ve tried one–it was very good, but I didn’t think it was enough for 3 servings (even w/ bread), but maybe that’s because I’m eating for 2 these days :)
Thanks for your new blog, by the way–very helpful!

What is Food Lion / Blooms coupon policy? I know the coupons you mentioned were for a larger amount, but do you know if they double any of the smaller amounts?

Also, Fool Lion has those printable FLIP’s. Can you stack those with a manufaturer’s coupon?

One more question…does Publix in Greenville (the one near Furman) take competor’s coupons? If so, does that include Food Lion FLIP’s, CVS, Walgreens, or Target?

I won’t be near BI LO to check on those Q’s but I’ll be in Ingles later today. Maybe I’ll be lucky and they will have the Bird’s Eye Q’s too. I’ll let you know ;-)

We’ll be near the Food Lion on Sunday. I’ve got a rain check for when they had chicken breast on sale for $0.87 / lb. They have some good deals on meat this week that I hope to pick up too. This deal would be a great find for my mom (my family won’t eat these meals) so maybe I can grab some for her.

Thanks for the deals! I’m LOVING your site!!!!!

    Cherith,
These are normal manufacturer’s coupons, and should be accepted anywhere that takes coupons. It was a Publix associate that actually told my friend Clarissa about the deal (about the coupons at Bi-Lo). But of course, sometimes associates get confused about coupons and think they’re losing money with manufacturer’s coupons.

Thanks for the heads up about serving size–I am usually eating for 2, too (nursing), so that’s good to know! :)

    Julie,

I don’t think either store doubles unless it is for a special coupon event. (Bloom and Food Lion are actually part of the same corporation.) Yes, you can stack manufacturer’s with FLIPs.

At present, all Greenville Publix will accept competitor’s coupons, but only from grocery stores in the area (including Food Lion). They have accepted Target coupons, but I think it just depends where you go. 2 Greenville stores also used to accept Walgreen’s, but I’m afraid that wonderful time has come to an end as of a week ago.

    Hope that helps!

Wow! Glad to hear it went well! :) Were there many left? I actually redeemed my rainchecks at Publix, and they were free with the coupons.

We also tried the garlic shrimp for lunch today–AMAZING! I was pretty impressed; it tasted so fresh (I did it in the skillet, not microwave). We didn’t have any sides with it, so I agree with Cherith that it was just about enough for 2 people. My husband LOVED the meal, and he usually isn’t too excited about food that isn’t homemade.
