Fun Free Greenville Activities

Here are 4 free activities to do in Greenville: (There are many more, but these are some of my favorites!)

1. Visit to Falls Park/Reedy River

Falls Park is definitely one of Greenville’s finest features. Located in the heart of Greenville, it is truly the focal point of the downtown area. The Liberty Bridge is a must see at night, when the lights of the town mingle with the architecture of the suspension bridge and the natural beauty of the Reedy River to make an unforgettable image. Often, there are plays going on in the grassy areas and outdoor theaters.

While there, take a visit to the lesser known Children’s Garden. (During the summer, the “Five Senses” garden features blueberries and blackberries, and they looked like they’d be ready later this week or next…if no one eats them all first!)

$2.97 for 12 Omaha Steak Hamburgers and Dessert!

Update: This deal appears to be no longer working; hopefully a few of you were able to take advantage of it, though!

Wow!  This deal is super…and will probably end soon…so if you plan to do it, I recommend doing it right away!

Here’s how:

1. Sign up with GEICO Privileges

Within less than an hour, GEICO will e-mail you a special $25 off gift code to be used at Omaha Steaks online.

Once you receive your e-mail…

2. Go Omaha Steaks using this link and to get 12 free Hamburgers added to your order.  (Click “Redeem here,” and proceed to the ordering page.)  Shipping costs $13.99, so you will need to order at least $11.01 worth of products to use your $25 gift code.

  • Search for “pastry bites.”  These are on sale for $6.99 (for 24).
  • Order 2 of these, and your order will come to $13.98
  • Proceed to checkout (shipping and the “12 Free burgers” will be added once you go to checkout.)
  • Redeem your gift code from GEICO, and your order should come to $2.97!
    • You can pay with Paypal or Credit Card.

HT: I saw this deal on ABC Channel 13 Super Saver blog. A similar deal was also listed on Money Saving Mom.

Where the Pickin’s Good…and Inexpensive!

We are now well into apple season in the upstate area.  In fact, it’s nearing the latter half…but the pickin’s still good…really good!  If you’ve looked at the apple prices and added in the cost of gas, you may be thinking that it’s less expensive to just stay home and grab your apples from the local supermarket, particularly if you’ve been to the orchards just for the tourism/vacation.  Pick a few for the “experience,” but bushels? Just a tourist trap?  Fortunately, there are some really good deals to be found…

Stepp’s Orchard (~10 cents/lb. or half bushel for $2)

    • Join the Publix Baby Club and you can receive coupons, a newsletter, and if it’s your first child, a free book.  You can receive the coupons from the time you are expecting up until the time your child turns 2!  I have received several coupons for totally free items (yes, you read that right–totally free!).
    • There are several other clubs and programs that offer coupons, free items, and newsletters, such as the Preschool Pal’s and Publix Greenwise Market Magazine.
