Free Gas…$20 Worth!
Yup, that’s right–free gas! How?
There are a few “catches,” but none that require spending any money. Exxon Mobil is offering a special for signing up (and activating) their Speedpass wand:
New Speedpass customers in FL, LA, MA, NC, NJ, RI and SC will receive a $20 ExxonMobil Cash Card (or a $20 ExxonMobil Credit Card statement credit if Speedpass is linked to an ExxonMobil Credit Card) for activating a new Speedpass account.
You can go here to sign up. (Note: You do have to link your Speedpass to a credit/debit card.) Once you receive your Speedpass, you must activate ONLINE in order to receive the gift card.)
Also, it does seem that for others, the card has been slow in coming, but it does come! You don’t need to use the Speedpass wand to receive the gift card, so if you’re patient this might be a good deal if you don’t mind linking it to your credit/debit card.
The fine print:
Offer limited to new Speedpass customers. Offer excludes Fleet Card Accounts. Both enrollment and activation must be done online at speedpass.com to qualify. Purchases in FL, LA, MA, NC, NJ, RI and SC do not qualify for the rebate. The $20 cash card offer cannot be combined with the 5c per gallon rebate offer. Maximum rebate is $20 (or $20 cash card) per new account. Allow a minimum of 90 days to receive rebate credit(s) or cash card. Rebates will be posted to the credit or check card that is linked to Speedpass. Purchases must be made with a valid Speedpass. Offer expires December 31, 2008. Can not be combined with any other offer or promotion. Terms of Use will be sent to you with your Speedpass device. Use of your Speedpass device will constitute acceptance of the Terms of Use.

So, Keren, do we have to have an ExxonMobil credit card for this to work, or will we get it with any card? And, in the “fine print” it says that “Purchases in . . . SC do not qualify for the rebate”. . . . just curious.
If it worked for you with a regular card (not exxonmobil) I’d love to know - I’m thinking we could sign up both me and Chris and get two of them?

Kim,
You can link this with any card. It may say that SC purchases do not qualify because SC is a state that gets a gift card, while other states only get 5% back.
Hope that explains?

I didn’t receive my gift card in the 90 days. That’s OK, though - it was worth the 5 minutes for a chance!
