Last year, I had read various places that I might be able to get the Entertainment Book for free, so I wondered if I waited long enough this year if I might be able to get a free copy! And I can!
The Entertainment Book is a several hundred page books filled with coupons, and they are sold by city/region. Our local book is for the Greenville/Spartanburg area. Coupons include food/dining, travel, bowling, concerts, and more. If you have to pay for the book, in my opinion, it’s not really worth the full price ($25), unless you are planning to dine out or attend local events. (Most often the coupons are if you’re already buying something, but occasionally, there is a coupon for a free item-no strings attached.) But for free, it is VERY worth the effort listed below.
Here’s how to do it:
1. Sign up for Cashbaq.com
You will receive a $5 bonus for signing up. Cashbaq.com is similar to Ebates, in that you earn money through shopping online through their site.
2. After signing up, you will see a section on the left side of the Cashbaq site called “Shop by Store.” There, select Entertainment Book.
This will bring up an online coupon that says:
Use this coupon in addition to the $10 cash back rebate
$10 off and Free shipping on 2009 Entertainment Books
(You will receive $10 for purchasing through Cashbaq)
3. On the right side, select “use this coupon”
This will direct you to the Entertainment Book website.
4. Purchase the book (it should come up as $15, with free shipping.)
You will be receiving the $5 sign-on bonus, as well as $10 from Cashbaq, for a total of $15 back. Thus, the book is free after rebate! (Plus whatever savings you’ll have by using the coupon book!) The Cashbaq rebate may take a week or two to show up, but you will receive it eventually.)
Other areas should also be able to do this same deal, assuming the price for your local Entertainment Book is $15 or less (with coupons).
**Additionally, you could sign up to automatically renew your subscription for next year, and save $5 immediately. The fine print says you will have to pay $5 back if you cancel, but customers in the past have reported receiving a cancellation postcard a few months later and not having to pay the $5. So, you could potentially make $5, but it would be a risk (though you wouldn’t lose any money unless you forget to cancel). **
