$750 Budget: Week 1 Report
Here are the totals for last week’s spending:
.
.
.
- Publix: $1.47 (2 transactions)
- Walgreens: $0.00
- Bloom: $6.66 (2 transactions)
- I also picked up a gallon of milk on clearance, but forgot to take it back out of the fridge for the picture.
- Sav Mor: $7.00
- CVS: $0.00**(multiple transactions)
- Just a note on this: I used a gift card to pay the few cents (a little more a couple of times) remaining after coupons.
- McAlister’s Deli: $.28
- my husband and I both used the $3 coupons, and $.28 was our total. Not bad for a quick date!
Total spent: $15.41
Left to spend for 2009: $734.59
Total saved: ~$400.20 (over 90% savings! I like to hit 90%, if possible, but am thankful for even higher savings…not that I would have bought name brand if I didn’t have coupons.)
Other deals I did to save/earn money:
- I received my check from the Publix Kellogg’s rebate: earn $10
- My husband and his brother test drove a truck (and had fun!): $50 gift card should arrive in a month
My thoughts…
This week’s spending was just over the average allowed for each week, but I had my reasons for going over. For one, the Sav Mor sale is not every week. I was not sure if I’d be able to get a box, but a friend saw my friend and I (our husbands were at a meeting), and offered to watch our kids while we entered into the mad frenzy filled our boxes. I was happy to find some tortilla/wrap shells, among other things.
Another was the triple coupon event at Bloom. When my friend Julia commmented that you could get Kraft cheese for $.25 a bag, that was great incentive to go. We should have anough cheese now to last us at least 4-6 months! There is also a $3 off any CVS brand item, which led me to visit CVS a few times.
I went shopping 2 days this week–Monday and Saturday. But I took several trips on Saturday, mostly because we just had 1 vehicle among 3 adults, and due to my little girls schedule. A little more than I like to do, but great for stocking up! I also enjoyed tasting my first taste of free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. I can almost see why people would pay good money for it. But only almost.
Interestingly, I was just thinking, it would be nice to be able to get some sliced cheese…and what do you know, that was part of the deal! Praise the Lord for providing, but He is good even if there is no cheese.

Great job! Was Sav Mor crazy? My mom said a while back she saw a spot on the news about the Sav Mor yard sale and it was a mad house. Just wondering what it was like this week.

I just saw your site, thanks for posting! and yes, He is good even if there is no sliced cheese. Do you ever do run downs on how you spend 1.47 oop at publix for instance?

Ok, you’ve got to share how you did the Publix deals? I think I’ve got the others, but definitely not the Publix!

Okay, here’s the Publix run down:
-Poptarts were BOGO, and the particular kind had a $1 off peelie on them, making them 9 and 10 cents a box.
-Mashed Potatoes were free after q
-Campbell’s soup was the penny item.
-had a Food Lion $1 off eggs, used as competitor’s coupon
-used a $7 off any bone-in ham from Honeybaked Ham as a competitor’s coupons (YMMV, but some Bi-Lo’s accept it, too); got the smallest ham over $7 (over by just a few cents, so it was nearly free); these were in the recent inserts and there is also one online
-I think I may have had another coupon, but not sure

First off, good job on the scores!
Second, I too am a believer in Christ.
Third, I’ve been on a serious saving kick in the last half year. To the point of selling my car!
I’ve been an avid dumpster diver for a few years now. I’ve pulled out scores just about as big as this shopping trip for free. You should think about it.
