This is a good sale. I like it because unlike other consignment sales, the sellers choose their own prices. Although that means some HIGH prices, it also means some really LOW prices. Look around, and you’ll find some great deals.

I agree, this sale is a good one but like Brenda said…keep looking for a great price. Also, the last day is 1/2 off -there is usually some sort-a mark…I can’t remember what it was last year but they have lots of volunteers there to ask. I always go the 1/2 off day so I’m not tempted to buy any “full” price items. Yes, the selection is a bit less, but for someone like me who has a limited budget and a hard time making decisions it works out great!!

Also going on this weekend is the Angle Attic sale. It is held at St Mary Magdoline Catholic Church on Woodruff Rd. They also have a half off day this Sat. The prices there have proven to be good the past couple of years…espectially on Sat, I have typically gotten items for $2 or less!!!

I’ve done the consignment sales and I find that they are asking WAY too much for used clothes. I just posted deals I got for my little boy from Hamrick’s. Brand new shirts for $1.49 beats used $2.00 and up clothes any day.

Dillard’s has boys clothes up to 70% off and lots of beautiful girls dresses for 50% off. They had a precious dress that was marked down to $12! I wish it had been in one of my daughter’s sizes!

Last summer I bought my older daughter some lovely brand new dresses for $10 and $8 at Dillards. Take a look at the prices for dresses at the consignment sale…a lot more than that I’ll tell ya.

It’s way too easy to get caught up in the frenzy of buying “cheap” clothes and over spend thinking you are getting a good deal.

Everyone is different, but from experience I know consignment sales aren’t for me.

I went to the volunteer pre-sale at Switch-a-roos tonight and they have tons of stuff! You defininately need to plan to spend time to sort through. Sure, some consignors price their items way too high and some items are not in good condition, but all of the items I got tonight were $1-$4, some new with tags. I get almost all of my kids’ clothes by consignment and am rarely able to find clearance sales (even 75% off) that come close to the consignment deals I get - and I’m pretty picky about how I dress my kids. Adorable dresses for $3-4 that look new, shorts and tops for $1-2! We are fortunate to have so many consignment sales in Greenville and if you’re choosy, the prices can be so much better than consignment stores or retail stores clearance prices. Just takes a little patience!

Okay so I broke down and went to this sale and I thought I’d share my opinion. I was terribly disappointed. Would you believe that they had used clothes priced at $22? I don’t mean a fancy dress either. This was a basic shirt and pants set for a size 8 girl. I saw more than one item priced this high. Unreal!

Toddler boy t-shirts for $4. They have them at Walmart for $3.50 new.

Girls dresses for $3-4? I didn’t see any of those. I saw them for $12 and up. Shorts and tops for $1-2? Nope, not in my girls sizes. They were $6 and up. I won’t pay that for used clothes and I do mean used. They looked worn out.

I went Kohl’s after visiting this sale and right now they have brand new, this season boys and girls clothes for $6 per shirt and per short. Now you know they will be having a sale on these before long and you can get them at an even better price.

They also have winter clothes marked down 60%, 70% and 80% off and they had rack after rack in little kids, boys and girls sizes. Now’s a great time to buy ahead for next year.

Here’s what I see. If you are buying for a small child (up to 12 months) you may find some good deals. They grow out of their clothes so fast they don’t wear them out. If you are looking for older kids clothes (mine are 3yrs, 6 yrs, 9 yrs and 11 yrs) the clothes are just worn out and over priced.

I’d rather visit the markdown sales of the department stores and buy new ahead for next year than buy over-priced used for this season.

I know each person is different and lots of folks like consignment sales. Apparently I’m not one of them.

I went to the Angle’s Attic sale and found some good deals today. I do agree with Julie, that the larger size you need for a child the slimmer (and pricer) the deals are. I have a three year old and a 9 month old and the selection for the younger age is MUCH better. However, I was able to find some great shirts for my three year old. I think I like going to the consignment sales because there is a good varity of styles and I know there will be some good deals to snag, even if I have to search for them. Again, I also only go to 1/2 off days and I *try* to go when they first open….I would assume that not much would be left at the end of the day-at least worth getting. It is really great to find good deals on brand new iteams too-I just haven’t figured out how to time finding them in the store-by the time I get there there isn’t much left.

The pickings at consignment sales are much better for those who are consignors, or better yet volunteers. That’s who gets to shop first before the sale is open to the public and also why some sales get picked over by the time the public comes in. I found lots of great items for my daughter (24months-2T) but only a few for my son (size 6-7). Parents of older kids don’t tend to consign as much and for some reason seem to usually overprice their items. I agree that I’d never pay $22 for a used (or new) outfit and some people are just unreasonable in their pricing. Having worked the end of sales though, they’re also the consignors who have a huge pile of unsold clothes left when it’s over. And I’ve never figured out how so many stained/worn items find their way in, but for me, I love the thrill of the hunt and am usually really happy with what I get when I can shop early. I like the one-stop shopping where I can find lots of things at one place on one day without running all over town and making repeat trips looking for the best sale. Don’t get me wrong - if I happen to be at a retail store when there’s a sale, I’m always checking the clearance rack. To each his own though!

I make and sell jewelry and crafts. Are these things allowed here?
